Diathermy FAQs

Following the use of electrolysis for hair removal through the early part of the 20th century, developments in this field followed. This included a different form of electricity treatment which uses heat to destroy hair follicles called diathermy. This method has since been developed for other uses including thread vein removal.

Facial thread veins can spoil the aesthetic appearance of a good complexion and present an uneven look to the skin. Facial thread veins are permanent dilations of the small superficial blood vessels on the face. Regular, long term exposure to the sun and wind are the most common causes, of the appearance of these tiny red facial veins. Heredity, hormones, disease, and excessive alcohol may also be contributing factors. Removal of facial thread veins is carried out here with short wave diathermy to improve the aesthetic appearance of the face
